Puppy Consultations

Early development plays a vital role in shaping long-term behaviour. Puppy consultations are designed to help you start off with confidence and clarity during this important stage.

This session focuses on:

  • Preparing your home for your new puppy

  • Toilet training and settling routines

  • Puppy biting and normal developmental behaviour

  • Safe socialisation and confidence building

  • Handling and cooperative care foundations

  • Preventing common behavioural concerns before they develop

  • Building independence and emotional resilience

This is ideal for families who want personalised guidance from the very beginning or support while waiting for puppy classes to commence.

My approach

All training and behaviour support is:

  • Force-free and fear-free

  • Based on modern learning theory and behavioural science

  • Focused on emotional wellbeing, not just obedience

  • Tailored to your individual dog and household

  • Designed to strengthen trust and communication between you and your dog

My goal is not just to improve behaviour, but to help you understand why it is happening and give you the tools to create lasting, positive change.

Puppy Classes & Early Socialisation

In addition to private puppy consultations, I also offer structured puppy classes designed to support your puppy’s early development in a safe, positive, and controlled environment.

Puppy classes provide an excellent opportunity for young dogs to learn essential life skills such as focus, calm behaviour around distractions, appropriate social interaction, and confidence building in new environments.

All classes are taught using fear-free, positive reinforcement methods and are designed to support your puppy’s emotional wellbeing as well as their learning.

Small & Large Breed Classes

To ensure a safe and positive learning experience for all puppies, classes are separated based on size, developmental stage, and play style.

This helps to:

  • Support safe and appropriate play interactions

  • Reduce the risk of intimidation or injury between mismatched puppies

  • Ensure puppies are interacting with others of similar energy levels and confidence

  • Allow for more appropriate, successful social learning experiences

  • Support breed-specific play styles and developmental needs

Small breed puppies are placed together to ensure they can play and learn in a safe environment without being overwhelmed by larger, more physically robust play styles.

Large breed and medium-sized puppies are grouped together to allow for appropriate energy levels, social interaction, and controlled play development.

This structure helps ensure that all puppies are set up for success, both in their learning and their social development.

Why early puppy classes matter

The early socialisation period is a critical stage in your puppy’s development. Positive, well-managed experiences during this time help shape:

  • Confidence in new environments

  • Appropriate social skills with other dogs

  • Resilience and emotional regulation

  • Learning capacity and focus

  • Long-term behaviour outcomes

My goal is to support you and your puppy during this important stage with guidance that is both practical and aligned with modern behavioural science.

How puppy consultations and classes work together

Many families benefit from starting with a private puppy consultation before joining group classes. This allows us to address your puppy’s individual needs at home and prepare them for success in a group learning environment.

Private sessions and group classes work hand-in-hand to build a strong foundation of skills, confidence, and positive experiences during this important developmental stage.
